1964 Chevelle Parts and Accessories Information

This was the first year of the Chevelle. They came in hardtop, convertible, and El Camino. They had four headlights and a sleek aluminum front end. The interior came in a choice of colors - Red, White, Turquoise, Lt. Blue, Saddle, and Black. You could order optional front seats benches or buckets with or without consoles in the center of floor between bucket seats. They could be ordered with automatic, 4-speed or 3-speed transmissions. The choice of power would be 283 engine, 6 cylinder, or 327 engine. The front grille was all aluminum with no black paint. They also made a station wagon and 4 door Chevelle as well.

The 1964 Chevelle had a plastic emblem over the glove box door that said Malibu or Malibu SS or El Camino. The dash also had a plastic chrome dash insert cover over the speedometer. They also had a center hood split molding made of chrome that went down the center of the hood. The front of the hood spelled out Chevrolet in chrome individual letters. They came with amber rectangular parking lens in the front of the bumper. They also had roll out vent windows that rolled out to catch fresh air. Some had top chrome that ran down the side of the whole car at the top of body line. The 1964 also came with a bowtie round mirror on the drivers door. The rear of the1964 Chevelle had Chevrolet spelled with chrome letters across the trunk lid and rear aluminum molding`ran across the rear between the tail light to give it a sleeker look. Overall just a square looking box car look that added to muscle car specifications. A new look was invented for Chevrolet.
